Jefferson County Inmate Visitation
Jefferson County uses The Visitor video visitation system and IC Solutions. The JCSO visitation source says video visitation replaces traditional face-to-face visits through glass partitions with video kiosks. The detainee remains in the housing unit, and the visitor may choose onsite or offsite video visits. Adult visitors must register at no cost through IC Solutions before participating.
Attorney visitation has separate rules. Counsel must schedule in advance and provide photo ID upon request. Items entering the jail may be searched. Jefferson County Inmate Money
Commissary services are provided by Access Corrections. Funds may be added in person at the jail from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Depositors may use cash or credit cards at the kiosk in the office lobby or bring a money order made out to the inmate's name. Web deposits go through Access Corrections. Jefferson County Inmate Mail
Jefferson County jail mail rules are strict. Funds are not accepted through the mail, including money orders, personal checks, or cash for commissary. Funds should be sent by web deposit instead. Incoming detainee mail must clearly show the inmate's legal name, detainee number, housing unit, institution name, street address, city, state, ZIP, and a complete return address.
Non-privileged correspondence must be standard white postcards. The research says no index cards or photographs are accepted as ordinary postcards, and postcards may be no larger than 5 by 7. Stamps are removed and discarded. There is no limit on postcards received, but detainees are limited to 10 postcards in the cell at one time. Defaced or altered cards, plastic, wrapping, labels, stickers, watermarks, stains, lipstick, perfume, nudity, weapons, alcohol, and gang references are not accepted.
Photos from friends or family must come from an authorized vendor. They cannot show nudity, bare-chested children, drugs, alcohol, weapons, or illegal activity. Legal mail and attorney communication should follow jail procedures for privileged material.
